Neun neue Songs und eine Reprise – für mein neues Album PROFILING habe ich neun Charaktere erfunden, über die ich mir Gedanken mache und über die ich singe: zufrieden Unzufriedene, Ohnmächtige, Opfer und Täter:innen. Dies sind zwar keine existierenden Personen, aber sie entsprechen menschlichen Zügen und Haltungen, die ich in meinem Alltag antreffe. Und denen ich auf diesem Wege Mut machen will…
… zu tun, wovon sie schon lange träumen (solange dabei niemand zu Schaden kommt).
Die letzten zwei Zeilen und Akkorde von LAST QUESTION waren das erste, was ich für dieses neue Album geschrieben und aufgenommen habe. Ich wusste also von Anfang an, wie es enden sollte. Und wem ich den Song widme. Zu LAST QUESTION werde ich in den nächsten Tagen auch ein kleines Video veröffentlichen, einfach weil es Spass macht.
Die anderen Songs sind innerhalb weniger Monate entstanden: Das ungelenke Geständnis in LAST CENTURY ASSHOLE und die verdrehten Gedanken in EXTREM_NORMAL wirken leicht autobiografisch. Inspiriert wurden sie aber durch Gespräche mit Menschen in der Mittagspause, im Zug, unter Bekannten.
WERT stellt die Grundsatzfrage, warum eine Arbeit wertvoller sein soll als eine andere. Und findet keine plausible Antwort.
DISZIPLIN (auch dazu kommt ein Clip!) und PUPPET ON A STRING liegen Beobachtungen aus dem Alltag zugrunde. JESTERDAY baut auf der Hoffnung auf, die Narren mögen dereinst die Welt regieren. Narren, nicht Idioten! Und über GOD habe ich hier schon ein paar Zeilen geschrieben >
Dem Thema wollte ich auf dem Album aber noch eine andere Note geben, darum eine REPRISE.
Ich freue mich, wenn ihr euch die Songs anhört und mir vielleicht ein kurzes oder langes Feedback gebt. Und wer weiss: Vielleicht landet der eine oder andere Track auf euren Playlists ;-). Das würde mir auch extrem helfen, von den Algoritmen von Spotify, Youtube und Apple Music nicht vollends ignoriert zu werden…

Nine new songs and a reprise – for my new album PROFILING, I have invented nine characters that I think about and sing about: contented malcontents, the powerless, victims and perpetrators. Although these are not real people, they correspond to human traits and attitudes that I encounter in my everyday life. And whom I want to encourage in this way to… do what they have been dreaming of for a long time (as long as no one gets hurt in the process).
The last two lines and harmonies of LAST QUESTION were the first thing I wrote and recorded for this new album. So I knew from the start how it should end. The other songs were written within a few months: the awkward confession LAST CENTURY ASSHOLE, or the twisted thoughts in EXTREM_NORMAL are probably autobiographical. But they were inspired by conversations with people during my lunch break. DISZIPLIN and PUPPET ON A STRING are based on observations. JESTERDAY is built on the hope that fools may one day rule the world. Fools, not idiots! And I’ve already written a few lines about GOD here >
But I wanted to give the theme a different touch on the album, which is why I included a REPRISE.
